Timeline: Mid-movie, right as he's been tossed in jail.

Personality: Eugene Fitzherbert created the alias Flynn Rider to live out his swashbuckling dreams of being that guy. A cool guy. The guy who gets all the girls. Flynn is his persona of a sort-- a dashing, charming and silver-tongued rogue who takes what he wants and gives nothing back. He's slippery and selfish, and thinks very little of abandoning his partners-in-crime if it means taking off with some crown jewels.

Fame, fortune, a castle... yeah, Flynn wants it all, and he's driven to it. Even if it means stepping on a few toes and being kind of a meanie. Flynn is sassy, sarcastic and sardonic. He expresses very little belief in cute notions of optimism and abstract things like magic and true love. When he meets Rapunzel he stands in stark contrast to her. She's the sheltered, bright-eyed dreamer, and he's the slimy, world-worn thief.

However, as the movie progresses, we see more of the real Flynn within. Or really, we start to see Eugene. Growing up an orphan, he had to steal to get by and make of himself what he is today. That sort of life has left him alone and a little lonely, even if he hides it with flourish and smirks. As he discovers more about Rapunzel, the magic she wields and the life she's lived, he comes to care about her and begins to change his way of thinking. (Though magic and stuff still kinda freaks him out.) It's almost startling for him when she says she likes Eugene, the penniless orphan who tries so hard to be cool, over Flynn Rider.

Long story short, true love finds its way into his heart and Eugene becomes a more selfless, more caring individual. He gives up his old dream of riches and wealth in favor of Rapunzel's happiness, and turns that old determination of his into the driving force for Rapunzel's rescue. Even as he lays dying in her arms, love has changed him so fully that he willingly gives up his only chance at survival so that Rapunzel can be free.

God, he's such a Disney Prince. For the modern days and all that. After all, not many princes would say "You know, I've always had a thing for brunettes," after being brought back to life.

Background: Here's a recap I'm sorry it's like 1,000 words.

Abilities: Flynn is pretty strong-- he can climb a 70-foot-tall tower without grips, and possesses a pretty fair level of skill with a sword. He's agile, being a thief, and he can even pull off that cool Mission Impossible move if the plot calls for it. Also, he can sing...? And ride horses. Prince stuff, but with a side of thief.

First Person:
I... hm. [ Flynn has spent the better part of a few minutes staring at his watch. After dropping it with a shout when it started making noise, he seems to have accepted it for now. For now. He's not stupid, he's just never seen anything like this before. ]

[ He stares down into the screen, still a little suspicious but. Really, he's got more important stuff to deal with. ]

Oookay, so. I'm guessing this thing... there's people on the other end of this, right? 'Magical communication tools,' [ you can practically hear the air quotes, ] are kinda new to me, but I'm wasting time as it is, so...

Has anyone seen a girl with really, really, really, and I mean REALLY long, golden hair come by here? With an old woman, maybe? She'd be wearing a red cloak-- the woman, not the girl. The girl was in kind of a more purple dress. Kind of a lilac color... [ Just as he's about to taper off, he stops himself. No daydreaming, Flynn. ] Right! No time for that-- I just need to know if anyone's seen this girl. Her name is Rapunzel and I think she's in trouble. If you see her, let me know which way she went! I'd seriously owe you.

The past day had been, in a word, crazy.

Well, maybe crazy wasn't the best word. More like... terrible. and weird. Maybe even a little... magical. He'd started the day early, stolen a crown by 8 in the morning and ditched Stabby and One-eyed Stabby (as he'd endearingly called them) and really, everything would've gone great if it hadn't been for that demented horse and the guards and the weird girl with the magical hair.

But she wasn't just a girl, was she? No, her name was Rapunzel. She was pretty cute, truth be told. A little spazzy and a lot naïve but... she was something. As much as he didn't appreciate her whole 'tie you to a chair until you agree to help me' thing, Flynn was... Eugene was... getting pretty attached. Man, he hadn't thought of himself as that guy in a while. He sighed. He didn't think he could be that guy again, but then her... she had to go saying she liked him. She chose the loser orphan with the boring, cliche back story over the dashing rogue?

"Blondie, you're crazy," He mumbled, more to himself than anything as he approached the bridge to the city. Just as they'd promised, he'd gotten her there. The Lost Princess' festival was already underway by the sound of it, which made him wonder, what would he do after that? Buy an island? Live alone? Those were Flynn's dreams, sure, but what about...

"Eugene?" Rapunzel asked, turning towards him, "Aren't you coming? I think I hear music!" Even Maximus, that dumb horse, was giving him something of an incredulous look. (And since when could horses do that, anyway? He should probably just stop asking.)

"Right, right. I'm coming. I promised, didn't I?" And really, a promise with Flynn Rider didn't mean much at all. But the way Rapunzel's eyes lit up, and the way she took his hand... maybe Flynn Rider couldn't keep a promise, but Eugene could.

"Let's go!" she said, and Eugene nodded.

"Yeah." He smiled, a little wry, a little honest. "Best day of your life, right? Let's get to it."

Other: For the record, Eugene will likely be going by "Flynn" while in the city, so feel free to write him down as Flynn Rider. Strangers don't get to know his real name yet, and he only drops the name after getting officially together with Rapunzel.
